The Himalayan Pastoral Trust is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the welfare of Nomadic and Pastoral Communities like Gujjar, Bakerwal, Chopan, and Other Pahadi involved in livestock-based Activities and Migration in the Himalayan region. Migration has been integral to the sustenance of these communities, relying on nature for grazing lands and seasonal pastures. Our goal is to protect the way of life by addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change, forest rights, loss of grazing lands, and shifting migration patterns, and ensuring the continuity of their traditional practices through innovative and practical solutions.
